It is no exaggeration to say that a pair of high-quality boxing shoes can improve a boxer's flexibility, speed, and power. When boxing, wearing a pair of suitable boxing shoes can make you move like a real boxer, and if you move better, you will have faster speed and greater power.
The quality of boxing shoes can be summarized into the following four criteria:

Grip and rotation
Grip and rotation are the obvious characteristics of a good pair of boxing shoes. Other sports shoes are either too slippery, easy to rotate but difficult to stand on; or too grippy, making it difficult to rotate. A good pair of boxing shoes will keep you perfectly balanced, have enough grip to keep you stable during power transfer, allow you to rotate without obstacles, and allow you to really feel the contact with the ground.
The soles of boxing shoes are thin and flat, usually made of rubber, and have small and raised shoe patterns. Professional boxing shoes have soft and thin soles, which are easy to push and turn and are not easy to sprain when moving sideways. Generally speaking, the outsole of boxing shoes usually includes a designated area for rotation, with different textures and patterns in this area, so that you can have enhanced grip without sacrificing the ability to rotate.
Weight and thickness
The feeling of lightness comes from a lighter and thinner sole, a lighter and thinner upper, and freedom for the ankle. When the sole of the shoe starts to become thicker, or a lot of fabric and upper material restricts the movement of the ankle, the shoe will feel heavier. The right thickness is very important for boxing shoes. Different thicknesses will give boxers different feelings. Thin shoes give boxers a tighter barefoot feel, better grip on the ring surface, and greater mobility; thick soles are like putting some pads between your feet and the ring, which provides better protection. But every boxer has a unique feel they want to achieve, so there are different types of soles.
The upper of the boxing shoe should include breathable materials, such as nylon windows, to help prevent sweating and slipping. Mesh panels can also help keep your feet cool and improve airflow.
Shoe height
Low-top design: This design allows boxers to have greater comfort when doing endurance training, strength training, and skipping activities.
Mid-top design: Mid-top boxing shoes completely cover the ankle, and the general height will hit 1/3 of the shin. Mid-top shoes are the most suitable for actual ring combat.
High-top design: The design of high-top boots often covers half of the shin, and some even cover the entire shin, but they are not suitable for jumping and other aerobic exercises.
Flexibility
The curvature of the sole of a boxing shoe should mimic the natural curvature and movement of a boxer's foot. The boxer's speed and movement need to feel as natural as possible to achieve the best results. When buying shoes, you must consider the width of the shoe. If the shoe is narrow, the foot will be unstable when it contacts the ground. If the shoe is wider than your foot, it is easy to adjust the space to the most suitable size by tightening the shoelaces.
